Run Disney opened up last Tuesday the 16th and we were super luck to be able to get registered. Hubby is doing the Rebel challenge which is the 10K on Saturday and then the 1/2 Marathon on Sunday. I registered for the 1/2 Marathon , the kiddo is registered for the kids race and then all three of us are registered for the 5K. I wanted to register for the Rebel challenge but I chickened out and decided not to. My goal is to PR on this race. I got my worst time ever this years Star Wars Half (3 hrs 10 min) so I really want to just focus on getting faster rather than training for two races.
Registration was not great for this race. On all of the races before I can just use my account and register everyone without having to get back in line and it was really smooth. That was not the case with this one. At first I got on through the Run Disney web page and got myself registered for the 1/2 while hubby tried to get himself registered for the Rebel Challenge. He couldn't log on and I couldn't either this time. It was a very tense couple of minutes. Just as I thought all hope was lost I thought, hey let's try the Facebook page and it worked!!! So hubby registered himself while I registered the kiddo for the kids races. We got in just under the wire. About 3 minutes latter they were filled up. It was a very interesting phone conversation. It's kind of crazy how quickly the races fill up. It was really stressful. We really want to be legacy runners for this race, which means running it every year for 5 years. I really hope it happens!! After we got all registered we decided we would do the 5K as a family. The kiddo LOVES Star Wars so we figured that another medal couldn't hurt. Plus it doesn't appear that they are doing the Wookie Welcome party this year :( We didn't do it last year and regretted it. Fingers crossed they just haven't announced it yet.
It looks like now that they have changed up the registration process Hubby and I both are going to have to register separately from now on. It will just take some scheduling on our part :)
Next up is booking the hotel & park tickets through GetTravel and training. We have been running a mile each night as a family and I have been doing the gym at least twice a week, but it is now time to step it up. I was devastated when I got my worst time on a half ever earlier this year and I do not want to feel that way again.
