The kiddo got accepted into a new school and the whole experience has been AMAZING. He had his first day of school last week and he is officially a 4th grader. I cannot believe it. This new school is bigger but they are way more organized and offer him more opportunities like choir, coding classes, robotics, sports etc. However they also cost more and we don't really have the freedom like we did before to just take him out for a few days during the year. So we are having to cut down a bit on our vacations, which is fine. He is thriving so far in this new environment and I couldn't be more happy. I know that may be strange to say about the first week of school and we have a whole year to go but so far so good. The only downside is he is no longer in a dual immersion program but luckily we have friends and family who will keep that going.
The trip to Vegas is only 40 days away (WTF, I can't believe it) We still have to book our dinner reservations and show tickets, plus I also have to buy new clothes, but I am going to look darn good in them when we do go lol. I will do a few posts about shopping, packing, and where we are going to eat. I promise to do a blog recap when we get back.
I have been running twice a day, once in the morning by myself and one in the afternoon with the family and walking the dogs almost every day. The kiddo has cross country coming up and I am so proud of him. His form is phenomenal and he keeps getting better every day. He started off running 14+ min miles and he is now down to 11 min 25 second miles. Plus he really loves running which makes me happy.
We bought a new boat and have had many amazing adventures on it so far. It is a Newport 30. This was a surprise purchase to be honest. We had a lot of work to do on our old boat and we had budgeted the money to work on it. On the 4th of July we went down to our old boat to start doing some of the work and well the boat across the slip from us was for sale for the same amount as what it would take to fix our old boat. I may have had a few drinks at that point and said I WANT THAT BOAT!!! We went for a sail with the old owner a few days later and I fell in love with it even more so we bought it.
Our new boat has EVERYTHING we could want, a galley (kitchen), a head (bathroom), a private vberth (bedroom) and plenty of sleeping space. We have gone to Seattle, Blake Island, and Quartermaster Harbor. In fact we are headed out right now to do a quick sail. You will probably be seeing a few blog posts about our sailing adventures, so sorry to anyone who could care less about sailing.
The kiddo had some major dental surgery in July and it was terrifying. He had to have three teeth pulled, and a ton of cavities filled and a crown put in. We had to knock him out because of his anxiety and that was terrifying. They allowed us in the room when they knocked him out and then back in when he was waking up which was a blessing and a curse. He fought it the whole time while they were putting him down. I just wanted to snatch him off the table and run!!!! Then when he was waking up he wasn't opening his eyes or talking he was just screaming and crying at the top of his lungs. I have never heard him cry like that ever in my life. I felt like the worst parent in the world. Luckily he came to and is himself again. In fact he did so well he didn't even need any pain medicine other than what they gave him at the dentist.
Stay tuned for some posts regarding our trip to Vegas and my continued weight loss. Here is to an amazing finish to 2017.
